Crash when login with client on linux - Carlossg - 09-16-2013

First at all, hello and sorry for my bad english.

Today I was searching for a C++ server for minecraft and linux for my poor server, because the original server lags a lot because of the java, when I start server, CPU sets to 50%Confused

I found MCServer, I downloaded the last one, ant I started, I was surprised because it doesn't set CPU to 50% it was 1~5% so, good good job!Big Grin

I was going when minecraft client was loggin(No premium minecraft) when I see End of transmission(Or something like that) I go to server and It crashed, ok, just a idiot crash, maybe the last one, I ran server again, and crashed again, I tryed changing configuration and nothing, trying to download it again, and nothing!

This is the crash:

.txt   LOG_1379269291.txt (Size: 3.54 KB / Downloads: 262)

I'm using x86 Debian 7.0

RE: Crash when login with client on linux - tigerw - 09-16-2013

Yeah, we know this problem. I know which commit caused it, just waiting for xoft to merge in a possible fix.

Welcome to MCServer!

Here is a temporary link to a build that works: Berboe CI

RE: Crash when login with client on linux - xoft - 09-16-2013

Can you try the latest version now again? And if it crashes, could you follow the crash-reporting guide at https://forum.cuberite.org/showthread.php?tid=631 to give us more detail? Thanks.

RE: Crash when login with client on linux - tigerw - 09-16-2013

I can only think of this:

if ((BlockY >= cChunkDef::Height) || (BlockY < 0))
	{
		// Outside of the world

		cChunk * NextChunk = a_Chunk.GetNeighborChunk(BlockX, BlockZ); //POINTER ONE <-------------------------
		// See if we can commit our changes. If not, we will discard them.
		if (NextChunk != NULL)
		{
			SetSpeed(NextSpeed);
			NextPos += (NextSpeed * a_Dt);
			SetPosition(NextPos);
		}
		return;
	}

	// Make sure we got the correct chunk and a valid one. No one ever knows...

It happens after CI build #688 (http://ci.berboe.co.uk/job/MCServer%20Linux-x86/688/changes)

GDB gave me a dump, here it is!

RE: Crash when login with client on linux - xoft - 09-16-2013

Those pointers have nothing to do with the crash - they are essentially the same pointer and they aren't freed anywhere in that code (cChunkMap does all its thread-related housekeeping, so the rest of the code shouldn't ever call a delete on a cChunk)

The stacktrace has no reasonable info in it, I suppose that's a release mode build? Can you reproduce with a debug build?

The dump is useless unless you give us the exact executable that was used to create it. Either as a file download, or as a link in the CI. Also, is it 64-bit or 32-bit?

RE: Crash when login with client on linux - tigerw - 09-16-2013

The core dump has the execuable.

I'm using bearbin's builds, which are all release, so I can't do much there. I guess I could use a virtual machine to build it.
