Feeling a little lost ... - Jammet - 03-19-2018 Hope you're all doing well. I'll be quick, although I've been thinking about this for a while now. Cuberite used to run very well. Players could play. Build. Survive. And fight monsters. A little. These days, I have sudden invasions by hundreds of wolves. Chunks take aaaages to load, and half the time they just don't. And whatever player logs in, first, becomes automatically invisible the player who logs in, next. I have no idea what server version I should set the server to. It's "1.8.6" for now. I'm fine with old versions, but I want to know if this needs to be changed. It's a real mess, and I'm on the latest server: [20:34:16] Cuberite Jenkins gcc armhf Release (master) build id: #920 [20:34:16] from commit id: 4f26f653e1ae168a050f3eca3e8073eca3f10367 built at: Fri 2 Mar 11:18:05 UTC 2018 And have been updating it for months in the hope that things would improve over time, but no, everything is still the same over half a year later. A few of my friends tried to build something and were completely helpless. Please help me help them? Otherwise this survival server is about to die, soon, because nobody goes there anymore. It's been fun while it lasted, but in the past year, it feels like things have progressively gotten worse, not better. RE: Feeling a little lost ... - NiLSPACE - 03-22-2018 A wolf used to be a cPassiveAggressive mob, is this still the case? If so, perhaps the spawning code only looks for cPassive mobs. RE: Feeling a little lost ... - Jammet - 03-22-2018 Honestly, I have no idea. How are you doing? Great to see your name again. Anyway, the wolf problem aside, what's currently worst is that players can't see each other. RE: Feeling a little lost ... - NiLSPACE - 03-23-2018 I'm great, I'm still checking the forum almost every day I'm just not posting allot Is the latter problem only on specific Minecraft versions? RE: Feeling a little lost ... - Mathias - 03-23-2018 I can't seem to reproduce the invisible player issue. Does it happen all the time, or does it happen in certain situations only? Are the players next to each other when logging in, or are they far from each other, in different worlds etc? RE: Feeling a little lost ... - Samvbnm - 03-26-2018 I wholeheartedly agree with OP. I used MCServer/Cuberite regularly in 2015/2016 and it worked great, now its riddled with bugs, randomly kicks players while leaving them logged in etc. almost unusable. RE: Feeling a little lost ... - Mathias - 03-27-2018 The wolf issue should be fixed once this pull request is merged: https://github.com/cuberite/cuberite/pull/4198 It seemed like a typo in the code caused non-angry wolves to not be removed. The random kicks might be timeouts, since the code that handles timeouts doesn't seem to kick players properly at the moment. I'll open a pull request with a fix for this. RE: Feeling a little lost ... - the1robert - 04-03-2018 I can confirm the issue where there are too many wolves around. And I have seen the issue where a client will timeout and then be unable to log back in because the server still shows them to be logged in. However, the other issues I have not experienced. My chunks seem to load reasonably quickly. Especially considering what I'm running the server on, it's really impressive that it works as well as it does. I am running two servers, both the same version built on 03-20-2018 on Android (LG Optimus Zone™ 3) and on Linux (Raspberry Pi 1 Model B) from the build-server. It was the latest build at the time I set them up. (from commit id: approx: 1991a5b0e6a220a37e42c91e8448f4e7a786b767 built at: approx: 2018-03-20 10:44:30 +0100) My client version is 1.12.2 Edit: I just did a test with two clients logging on and off in the same area. 3 out of 5 times one person couldn't see the other.
