Since we moved to GitHub, you could push your work to a separate branch there, so that there won't be need for patches, you could update the sources to keep up to date with the current trunk version and we could even send pull requests to you if we wanted to contribute to the change.

The pull request is done.
I'm hoping for advices now.

Diving into it again made me see some changes to do.
I made some and "TODO"-flaged the others.
