How do I open ports on a Netgear router for a MC server? - Nicol Horkey - 07-11-2011 I watched a you tube tutorial and it told me to download MC-admin. So I did. Now it tells me to open a port on the router.... I have no idea how to do this. I typed in my IP (192.168.0.1) into the web browser and it comes up with a page that is not useful at all. How do I open a port so I can have a multiplayer MC server without Hamachi? RE: How do I open ports on a Netgear router for a MC server? - Tim - 07-11-2011 You will need to go to "Firewall Rules" which is under "security". Check this site: http://portforward.com/ and find your router for further help. Just 2 things: 1) I don't advise hosting a server long term on a residential line - doing so increases your chance of becoming the victim of a hacker or DDoS attack (I'm sure you know about these) - also with residential lines being slower than corporate lines, it will mean your server could be slow and laggy. 2) I don't mean to sound like a dick here but if from that tutorial you cant figure out how to forward ports, you probably shouldn't be in the routers config Good luck RE: How do I open ports on a Netgear router for a MC server? - FakeTruth - 07-12-2011 Your signature makes me suspect you are some kind of spam bot (or person), clean it up or I will ban your account.
