Android tests

Thanks for the suggestions -- I picked up an MK802 II, as well as a UG007 which is roughly 2x the performance.

The MK802 can run Lubuntu but not with the native WiFi support. The UG007's 'nix support is pre-alpha, these days, due to a different cpu (RockChip vs Allwinner). In either case, I'd recommend picking up a USB-->Ethernet adapter because the device is almost a new experience, with a reliable network connection.

I've been able to run the Android servers *stably* for days on end, even with all the quirks of the current build. Thing is, MC just moved up to 1.4.6 and I can't connect with the updated clients. All conversation about the Android release seems to have gone dark.

I will eventually get Ubuntu stable on one of these sticks, but even then I'd want to use the C++ implementation because it's just ridiculously faster than trying to get someone running through JRE on an 800MHz or 1200MHz ARM device.

I think it'd be a great idea if FakeTruth, or someone who manages to replicate Android compilation, actually wrote a Wiki article about compiling on Android - what you need, where to get it, how to set it up, and finally what to open and where to click to get an APK.

Here's the new apk: https://code.google.com/p/mc-server/down...%3DAndroid

I wrote a tutorial page on how to create the apk yourself: http://mc-server.org/wiki/doku.php?id=compiling:android

Thanks faketruth this runs pretty good on my Sony Ion it says 14.91 chunks per second and seems to run smoothly its pretty cool. really shows the potential of C++ as a replacement to java to bad mojang will never rewrite mc and i doubt they will ever release the sourcecode.

If I knew how to cross-compile I'd put it on my CI server and you could have auto buildsTongue

Well, the server itself runs very smooth on my Samsung Galaxy S3, but the problem is that after i restarted the server it seems like the web-gui got broken.

Edit: Found a fix, you need to install the 1.0 and then the latest build.

This is fantastic!

Is there any way to set the android APK to automatically launch the server when the program is launched? There's an additional step of clicking the "start" button within the app, making it difficult to automate.

It has been already requested in the bug tracker, I think it should be quite easy to do, but it's FakeTruth's domain, he's the one to keep begging for this feature Wink
