Anyone else have timeouts when joining?

The server was doing exactly the same thing it does when working properly - waiting for comm from the client and housekeeping the world.

Do you think you could run ProtoProxy next to it and try connecting through it? The sources for ProtoProxy are in $/trunk/ProtoProxy; I have put compiled binaries in http://mc-server.xoft.cz/ProtoProxy/ . Here's a piece of documentation that comes with ProtoProxy: https://mc-server.googlecode.com/svn/tru...oProxy.txt

Well whatever it's waiting on the client for, it must have been doing it out of order or unexpectedly. I'll see if I can tell from a packet sniff. If the client is the common factor then the problem must be in what the server was waiting for. Soft restarting the server must have forgotten to clean up completely, leaving this messed up after the soft restart. If I can't figure it out, I'll try protoproxy.

Protoproxy *is* a packet sniffer, with the added benefit of breaking the protocol encryption and parsing the packets, so I recommend starting with it, rather than a generic sniffer.

Note that you need to disable server authentication in order for protoproxy to work.
