Version 5 is protocol used by 1.7.9; so you aren't using the latest MCServer version. 1.7.9 support has been coded on April 15th. If you're downloading the windows nightlies (from http://mc-server.xoft.cz ), take note that the packages there are sorted by date ascending, so you want the last one, not the first one

I really need someone to make the web for me, so that the downloads aren't this chaotic.
