DiamondToaster built a little something several months back that would catapult you up so you could grab on to a ladder and climb the rest of the way up to his house.
For some odd reason, that mechanism does not work anymore. Nothing about it was changed, and I can see that it must have something to do with redstone energy not being transported anymore when the cable is below a slab of some sort.
