A Minecraft Copy?
#1
Hello guys (and girls?),

I just found the MCServer and was a little bit confused that there is a minecraft-server written in C++. Does this really mean that you started with nothing and try to copy the behavior of the regular mc-server?

This seems to be a really big project (but interesting) project then.

Are there any details how many people work on this project and how much time was already spent for writing the server? Is there a way to join the project and contribute to it? I have som experience in C++ but have never worked on a bigger project but this intrigued me somehowBig Grin And I also want to see the finished server with animal breeding and stuff of course.

Thanks for your answers in advance

Hello and welcome to the forum Smile

Yes MCServer is completely written from scratch starting somewhere in 2010 (Or at least then it was made public).

There are currently around 5 people actively writing code for MCServer. You can write code for MCServer and upload them to git to make a pull request.

People who are actively writing code. There are many more who have written code in the past, but it's about 5-7 people actively writing.
