Spawn in a non-existent chunk.
#1
When I wanted to disable animals, I've put "AnimalsOn" in world.ini to zero, but that affected nothing.
Next thing I've tried to do

Code:
[Animals]
AnimalSpawnChunkPercentage=0

And... This a bit helped(mobs became rare at least).

But, log is filled with...
Code:

You have to remove animals from the finishers too. Wink

What mean "finisher"?
I just want to reduce spawning of mobs at all, not only animals.
They appear to spawn too much.

But while I'm building my server, I want to forbid them to spawn without my will.

Mobs correctly aren't spawning, however, the provided message indicates that a cPickup (not a mob) is being created. The console command 'destroyentities' will destroy all current entities. To prevent all entities from spawning however, you'll probably have to edit the code and add a 'return false' in cWorld::SpawnEntity (or something like that).

I've got this problem too, and it's a really bad case now, getting progressively worse. Sad

What are cPickup entities exactly?

And why does the server just spawn them?

How will it affect the game/play/map if I "destroyentities"? Will crops or melons disappear, or ...

As for my hopes of getting this done through "destroyentities" ...

This scrolls really, really fast in real-time. Could probably go on forever. Oh god, a single morning, and the logfile is 16 Megabytes! I'm stopping the server for now. I leave this running as it is and it'll write the drive full of this nonsense faster than you could create actual chunks worth of data. ;(

It seems like it makes a real difference if there's a player connected and WHERE that player actually is, or what they are doing. Sometimes I don't get these messages at all. But usually, they just come rolling in.

For the love of god, please, someone, tell me that I can completely disable logging. For now I had to chmod the logs directory to completely restrict access to it. I hope the server won't spaz out when it can't write logfiles.

-.- Of course it does, at least when somebody wants to connect, it just bombs out. Great. Juuust great. Please forgive the tone. It's a little frustration, that. Smile

My PR was going to deal with that crash by refusing to start up if it can't create the file, so should I add a flag to replace the log file listener with a null listener?

For the messages, did you perchance update the server recently and notice it start happening? This could help to lead one to a specific change.

cPickup entities are drops by the way, as in stuff you:

These messages sort of always have been there. The latest increase happened while a player was playing. I'm not always watching, so I have no way of telling what exactly that player did, but judging from what I can see he was doing ... he was building simple constructions made of mostly cobblestone. Nothing special.

I've had these messages before the most recent updates, but then it amounted to max. 5-10 messages per hour. Now I have 5-10 ... per second.

So ... 5-10 message per hour in this build.
Cuberite Linux raspi-armhf Master #115, installed August 12th

A whole lot more in this one.
Cuberite Linux raspi-armhf Master #131, installed August 24th

I'm sorry if my message was upsetting. I'm confused why the server insists there's stuff thrown on the ground. There is nothing like that there. And wouldn't the stuff disappear normally, just a few minutes? If nobody picks these up?

Here is the entire world for download... if you'd like to check it out.
