HELP!!!!!!!!!

Hi, I just started with minecraft servers and I went into my own server using localhost connection and when the game starts it says type /f help for all commands but when I type it in it says unknown command. Ive made a text document in notepad and made all of my basic server commands but I don't know where to put the commands to get them into the server? Can someone please help me, thank you.

Sorry it was just /help and it was still an unknown command, also is there a 1.4.5 server minecraft updated on my computer. Or will I have to find a 1.4.2 version?

do you have the core plugin enabled. the coreplugin from the svn becouse the core from the forum is outdated.
for the version: add or change the PrimaryServerVersion in the [server] section to 49.
so you have for example:

[Server]
port=25565
maxplayers=20
Description=Description
PrimaryServerVersion=49
DefaultViewDistance=9

I updated aircraft so I need the updated server software and then I could try that.
