I tested MCServer on some the most popular linux platforms, and I thing that CentOS 6 is the best linux platform to run MCServer. Here are the tests.
Ubuntu 10.04: 15-19 TPS (unstable)
Debian 6: 16-19 TPS (unstable)
CentOS 5: Don't work
CentOS 6: 19-20 TPS (stable)
All of these tests were running on the same machine with 128 mb of ram and 640mb of Swap memory.
