Do you need a CA for code signing? It's much easier to just generate one with openssl or gpg. You do need one for websites, otherwise the browsers complain at you though.
If you have a CA-signed cert for code signing, the OS dialog for "trust this software?" looks a bit better. And it would be cool to have a real signature

The OS complains in either case, so that's not the point.
Oh yeah, haven't used windows for a while, forgot about that feature.
