Unfortunately nothing can be done about it from the user-side. This failure is completely random, so it will always happen after some time.

Any details, possibly? Does it happen immediately, does it happen every time you try something? (That is, can you reproduce the error well enough?) Any chance of me getting ssh access to your server and tinkering with the server?

I keep wondering if it's indeed possible for us to have multiple threads executing plugins' code. That would probably solve most of our deadlocking problems, because suddenly there won't be the critical sections that plugins currently need to lock.

Rev 1591 has a first attempt at alleviating inter-threading issues between the tick threads and the socket threads. Can you please test it out?
