AFAIK MCServer does support 1.7.9. Are you sure you are not using a snapshot on the mac?

Version 5 is protocol used by 1.7.9; so you aren't using the latest MCServer version. 1.7.9 support has been coded on April 15th. If you're downloading the windows nightlies (from http://mc-server.xoft.cz ), take note that the packages there are sorted by date ascending, so you want the last one, not the first one Smile

I really need someone to make the web for me, so that the downloads aren't this chaotic.

Why not simply amend the script to make one file that's called mcs-latest.zip, and also copy it to a dated one. Then, you can set the link to point to latest, and a seperate link to the dated list.

I don't think FTP supports remote copying. Anyway, this is a discussion off-topic. I'd like to hear from @timjordan what his results are.
