Wait, what? Do I understand correctly that this is actually one of the Bukkit coders who noticed that the entire thing is GPLed, so he wants either to have Mojang release the source code to their server, or Bukkit to cease to exist? WHAAAAA?

I've read a lot and I still can't come up with a story that makes sense. I still don't get how exactly it all happened.
VaiN, here's a proposal:
If you like the project, why not tell the Bukkit community about it via their forums? Many people would love to know there's a c++ alternative now that Bukkit is gone.
I was unable to register a new account, something is wrong with registration.

We did seem to have get more traffic. Visitors to the repo more than tripled to 340 on the 6th and although it has declined since then.

Any update here? I don't follow Bukkit stuff so much, but perhaps someone does. How did the events turn out? Was the DMCA challenged? Or is Bukkit really dead?

As far as I know, like Seadragon said, a lot of devs from bukkit have left, but as far as I know Mojang still wants to keep Mojang up, and Dinnerbone and a few other devs will still keep it up to date, doe now with Microsoft owning Mojang its a bit too early to say.
On that subject, the project Cauldron have stopped developing because of the DMCA, so as far as I know, the DMCA is still up but I don't think anyone really know whats going on, doubt even Mojang knows atm considering the ownership change.
