Okay, but I'm still getting an validation error, caused my the "mx" in the record. Did you remove it?

Yes, it's currently set to "v=spf1 a ip4:193.34.145.89 include:sites.nearlyfreespeech.net ~all"

NearlyFreeSpeech.NET, a web host. I just saw it in the SPF record and I wondered if you used it.

No I'm using my own VPS for hosting. And the newsletter uses NFS.

I got the data moved to MyBB 1.8 without any problems. Just missing the post thanks afaik. (of course the images aren't there, as I only got the database to test with)

How to (for SphinxC0re):
1. Extract MyBB 1.8 files somewhere on the server
2. Import the old MyBB 1.6 database into a MySQL database
3. Move the "uploads" folder from the old forum to the MyBB 1.8 files
4. Using phpMyAdmin, open the "mybb_users" table and change the usergroup of your username's row from "2" to "4"
5. Visit the new MyBB 1.8 forum and let the installer upgrade 1.6 to 1.8
6. Edit /inc/settings.php and change the forum URL there
7. Log into the forum and change what needs to be changed
